Smoothie’s
TEA/Infusion’S
HOT DIAPHORETIC HERBAL TEA

Ingredients
- Fresh gingerroot, 1/4 inch
- 1⁄4 cup dried chamomile>
- 1⁄2 cup fresh parsley
- 1⁄2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon fennel seed
- 1 tablespoon dried liquorice root
- Lemon juice
- Raw honey
- Water
- Red cayenne pepper, to taste if you can handle it.
Method
STEP 1
In a glass, ceramic or enamel-coated pot place the first 6 ingredients. (And the pepper, if you wish)
STEP 2
Cover with 2 quarts water bring to a boil then simmer covered for 30 minutes.
STEP 3
Strain as you pour each cup leaving the herbs roots and seeds to give off all they can.
STEP 4
As I have the tea I replace the pot of water and bring to the boil, then turn off the heat and keep the pan covered.
STEP 5
Season to taste with lemon juice and honey.
STEP 6
Sit back and inhale the steam while you drink the tea.

Caribbean Herbal Tea

Ingredients
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 piece of ginger (about 1 – 1 1/2 inches)
- 3 cloves
- 1 piece turmeric (about 1 inch)
- 1 garlic clove
- 3 cups water
- Sweetener of choice
Method
Step 1
Add ingredients to pot
Step 2
Bring to a high boil
Step 3
Boil for 5 minutes
Step 4
Remove from stove and leave to steep for 10 minutes
Step 5
Use a sweetener of choice
Ginger ice tea

Ingredients
Two cups of green tea
4-5 pieces of fresh ginger
Method
Step 1
In advance: heat 1 tablespoon of ginger in two cups of green tea, and let it cool down.
Step 2
Mix in a large jug : 10 cups of water with two cups of the ginger tea + 4-5 pieces of fresh ginger cut into cubes. Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Apple/Cinnamon

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cup of apple cut into cubes
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
Method
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 1 cup of apple cut into cubes + 2 cinnamon sticks + 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Pineapple/Mint

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cup of pineapple cut into cubes
- 12 fresh mint leaves
Method
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 1 cup of pineapple cut into cubes + 12 fresh mint leaves finely chopped.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Watermelon/Rosemary

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cup of watermelon
- 2 rosemary stems
Method
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 1 cup of watermelon cut into cubes + 2 rosemary stems.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Blackberry/Sage

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cup of blackberries
- 3-4 sage leaves
Method
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 1 cup of blackberries that have been very slightly crushed + 3-4 sage leaves.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Strawberry/Lime or Raspberry/Lime

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 6 strawberries or raspberries
- 1 sliced lime
- 12 finely chopped fresh mint leaves
Method
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 6 strawberries / 0r Raspberries and one thinly sliced lime + 12 finely chopped fresh mint leaves.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Fennel/Citrus

Ingredients
- 1 to 3 grams of dried and crushed fennel
- 150 ml of boiling water
- 10 cups of water
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange
- 12 mint leaves
Method
Infuse 1 to 3 grams of dried and crushed fennel in 150 ml of boiling water for 5-10 minutes. Allow to cool.
Step 2
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + lemon juice (put the leftover lemon in the mix) + a small thinly sliced orange + 12 fresh chopped mint leaves + the infusion of fennel seeds.
Step 3
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Lemon and Cucumber

Ingredients
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cucumber
- 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup basil leaves
- 1/3 cup of fresh mint leaves.
Method
Step 1
Mix in a large jug: 10 cups of water + 1 cucumber and a lemon, thinly sliced + 1/4 cup fresh finely chopped basil leaf + 1/3 of finely chopped fresh mint leaves.
Step 2
Leave in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
SMOOTHIE’S
Vitamin boost smoothie

Ingredients
- 1 orange, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 large carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
- 2 sticks celery, roughly chopped
- 50g mango, roughly chopped
- 200ml water
Method
Coconut and banana smoothie

Ingredients
- 100g coconut yogurt
- 3 tbsp milk of your choice
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- 3cm piece of fresh ginger , peeled
- 2 tsp baobab powder (optional)
- 1 small ripe banana
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp oats
- juice of 1/2 a lemon
Method
STEP 1
Add the coconut yoghurt and milk to a high-speed blender
Step 2
Add the turmeric, fresh ginger and baobab powder (if using). Tip in the remaining ingredients then blend until smooth.
Step 3
Add ice and blitz again if you prefer a colder drink. Pour into glasses and serve.
Kale smoothie

Ingredients
- 2 handfuls kale
- ½ avocado
- ½ lime, juice only
- large handful frozen pineapple chunks
- medium-sized chunk ginger
- 1 tbsp cashew nuts
- 1 banana, optional
Method
Step 1
Put all of the ingredients into a bullet or smoothie maker
Step2
Add a large splash of water and blitz.
Step 3
Add more water until you have the desired consistency.
Carrot, pineapple and banana Smoothie

Ingredients
- 500ml carrot juice, chilled
- 200g pineapple (fresh or canned)
- 2 bananas, broken into chunks
- Small piece of ginger, peeled
- 20g cashew nuts
- Juice of 1 lime
Method
STEP 1
Put the ingredients in a blender
STEP 2
Whizz until smooth.
STEP 3
Drink straight away or pour into a bottle to drink on the go. Will keep in the fridge for a day.
Kiwi, pineapple and mango smoothie

Ingredients
- 3 peeled kiwi fruit
- 1 mango , peeled, stoned and chopped
- 500ml pineapple juice
- 1 banana , sliced
Method
Step 1
Put all of the ingredients in a blender
Step 2
Blitz until smooth then pour.
Peanut butter smoothie

Ingredients
- 200ml oat milk
- 1 banana, peeled and chopped
- 20g peanut butter
- 1 tbsp rolled oats
- pinch of cinnamon
- pinch of allspice
- pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- small handful ice cubes
Method
STEP 1
Whizz all the ingredients together in a blender (one suitable for crushing ice) until smooth.
STEP 2
Pour into a tall glass and serve.
Strawberry, banana and orange smoothie

Ingredients
- 10 strawberries, hulled (approx 175g)
- 1 small banana, sliced
- 100ml orange juice, chilled
Method
STEP 1
Blitz the strawberries in a blender with the banana and orange juice until smooth.
STEP 2
Pour the smoothie into a tall glass to serve.
Green spirulina smoothie

Ingredients
- ½ small avocado, peeled and stoned
- 1 tsp spirulina powder
- 50g baby spinach
- ¼ cucumber, roughly chopped
- 1 lime, zested and juiced
- 10g mint, plus a sprig to garnish (optional)
- 75ml apple juice (not from concentrate), chilled
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
Method
STEP 1
Tip all the ingredients into a blender or food processor with 75ml cold water, and blitz until smooth. Or, put everything in a bowl and blitz with a hand blender.
STEP 2
Pour into a tall glass and garnish with a mint sprig, if you like. Drink straightaway.
Green smoothie

Ingredients
- 1 large ripe banana
- 1 cup packed baby kale or coarsely chopped mature kale
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- ¼ ripe avocado
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 cup ice cubes
Method
Step 1
Combine banana, kale, almond milk, avocado, chia seeds and honey in a blender.
Step 2
Blend on high until creamy and smooth.
Step 3
Add ice and blend until smooth.
Banana chocolate clean protein smoothie

Ingredients
- 1 banana, frozen
- ½ cup cooked red lentils
- ½ cup milk
- 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon honey (manuka is best)
Method
STEP 1
Combine banana, lentils, milk, cocoa and syrup in a blender. Puree until smooth.
